Friday, January 1, 2010: When moving around in Australia, you can feel quickly that the indigenous population - The Aborigines played a very important role in the country's tourism industry. It's the music, dance and art you see everywhere, and the tourists gsc one utama love it! But what exactly is it for a people? I do not really gsc one utama about Aborigines with war paint - which almost mechanically kills two pieces of wood together while they let themselves photographing the many tourists. And when the didgeridoo-playing musician will need to add it all with electronic sounds and drum machines, I think they have sold a part of their soul. I spoke with a British guess at the hotel when I got home. He knew a lot about the natives, and have come in Australia for many years, when he 30-year-old daughter lives here. He told me that they in fact had only tourism for their livelihood, and that they actually own choice whether they would paint Aboriginal art, throw boomerang or play music - anything is better than being homeless and drunk! And the truth is also that most homeless and drunken people you see in the cityscape actually aborigines. I got some scary things about their fate in this century - eg. led the Australian government gsc one utama from 1911 until after the war, a policy that aimed to reduce and dilute the abeoriginalske culture. They removed simply Aboriginal babies and children from their mothers and placed them in orphanages or in foster gsc one utama care by white families. Only after the second World War practice of indigenous children's removal changed. More than 100,000 children were removed and placed in white families. Originally they introduced the status of wildlife, and had no rights in the society. Only in 1967 will be implemented a law that for the first time makes Australia's indigenous to full citizens with voting rights. Today they are fighting so against being swallowed by the welfare dangerous monster of drinking, drugs and rootlessness. Struggling to maintain the identity and culture that is theirs but threatened. The question is whether tourists will not forget the cultural side of things when they face and greases with their ice cream at the fashionable harbor in Sydney and can be entertaining to the fun people with paint on the body? Unfortunately I have no doubt that Aboriginal gsc one utama culture gsc one utama is for decoration and exotic spots in the middle of the city's glass and steel. The Briton who got in Aboriginal culture ended his lecture with an open question to me; "How are Danes it with your own Aborigines - Greenlanders?" Little thoughtful facts: Aborigines make up only 2% of the population living around the 15-20 years less than the white population. Aborigines make up 21% of deaths in police custody Most of the 260 original Aboriginal languages are near extinct
Thank you for your strong thoughts. gsc one utama I can feel that you really have been thoughtful and take time to write your post about the aborigine. Many thanks for that. I feel that far too few Tourister gsc one utama think more deeply about the absurdity of Australia's indigenous population in some places (mostly in cities) that you write are for decoration! Read my book which will be published later this year (around mid-October gsc one utama 2010). It's called "In Dreams gsc one utama track" and is a different travel story about a young Danish woman (me) journey into the aborigine australia. It is a travelogue that includes many meetings and thoughts about the Aborigine and their murderers life. Regards. Marie Aagaard Larsen Reply Delete
Hi Marie You are absolutely right in that I had a number of strong experiences with aboriginals on my transit in Australia. Especially in the area around gsc one utama Darwin I met many poor souls who, despite their location at the bottom of the social ranking yet had maintained a proud and indomitable love of country. gsc one utama I will keep an eye on your book - looking forward to reading about your experiences. mvh Jesper Reply Delete
